Job Description

 

Title: House Administrator

Classification: Full-time Supervisory position

Reports To: Women for Recovery Board

 

Overview –The Mission of Women for Recovery is to provide a safe and supportive home environment for women who have the earnest desire and willingness to become accountable for their future, and embark on a new way of life, without dependence on drugs and alcohol.

 

Position Summary – Women for Recovery seeks a House Administrator. The House Administrator provides the overall management of Serenity Grove Women’s Recovery House and its facilities in accordance with the mission, direction, policies, goals and objectives of the Women for Recovery Board of Directors. The House Administrator supervises the day-to-day operations of the House through consultation and interaction with the Board and its designees. Applicants must be in recovery and currently working a solid recovery program.

 

The job description will serve as the primary document in the selection and hiring process; and constitutes the context for incumbent job performance and evaluation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the operation of a 7-bed transitional house

  • Maintain an alcohol and drugs of abuse free living environment

  • Provide leadership to the residents.

  • Foster a cooperative and collaborative home environment for the residents

  • Consistently adhere to, enforce, and implement house/program policies and procedures and keep current of and/or recommend changes.

  • Implement program activities and strategies to meet the needs of residents that are consistent with Women for Recovery’s philosophy and values as well as monitor quality and effectiveness of activities.

  • Supervise the daily activities of residents to include, but not be limited to: daily chores, signing in and out of the facility, recreation, visitation, group and meal attendance.

  • Conduct House meetings.

  • Develop and monitor residents’ roles in completing housekeeping assignments to maintain the standards of creating a safe and healing environment.

  • Maintain resident files with information concerning resident activities, group attendance, unusual events, visitors etc.

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident files and individual resident logs.

  • Intervene as necessary to protect residents from injuring themselves, other residents, staff and/or oneself.

  • Oversee residents’ medication and health issues and ensure communication of medical and health issues to designated Board representative.

  • Comply with house medication policy and procedures and accurately maintain related records (e.g., logging, inventory, counts, and audits). Immediately report any discrepancies to designated Board representative.

  • Work with residents and any other staff to coordinate meal service/ preparation and purchasing.

  • Monitor, order, and maintain supplies as directed

  • Monitor house vehicle use and maintenance needs and accurately report any problems to the designated Board representative.

  • Monitor maintenance of the facility and work to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff, as well as to comply with state, county and local requirements.

  • Conduct safety drills as necessary and required.

  • Participate in all staff development and training as required.

  • Comport one’s self on and off grounds in a manner consistent with the goals, objectives and philosophy of Women for Recovery.

  • Perform additional duties as required by the nature of the position or as requested by the Board.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school education or GED

  • Knowledge of and experience working with substance addicted populations

  • Knowledge of 12 step recovery programs

  • Previous managerial or supervisory experience

  • Ability to speak and write effectively

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with residents

  • Possess a valid OH driver’s license, a demonstrated safe driving record, and personal transportation

  • Ability to satisfactorily complete all necessary in service training

  • Ability to obtain CPR and basic first aid certification

  • Strong organizational, and time management skills.

  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity and workplace harmony.

  • Maintain comfort working with residents of all beliefs, ages, races, sexual orientation, and gender expression.

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

 

Working Conditions:

  • The house administrator will be expected to live and sleep a minimum of 6 nights per week at Serenity Grove

  • Additional time off will be negotiated with the Board

  • The successful candidate must be able to climb stairs, kneel, sit stand, and lift light boxes up to 25 pounds.
